Planning and booking
How does booking work?
Tell us about your trip and your advisor sends a free itinerary within 24 hours. You refine it together, then confirm with a deposit. The balance is due 45 days before you travel.
Can I change the itinerary?
Yes, as often as you like before you book, at no charge. After booking, we'll make changes wherever hotels and transport allow.
How do I pay?
By Visa, Mastercard, American Express or PayPal through a secure payment link, or by bank transfer. We never ask for card details by email.
Private tour or small group: which is right for me?
Private tours give you your own guide, car and any start date. Small groups (up to 12) follow fixed dates with a tour leader. Ask your advisor if you're unsure.
Visas and entry
Do I need a visa?
Many nationalities can now visit for up to 30 days visa-free, and citizens of 57 countries can use 240-hour visa-free transit. See our visa guide or send us your nationality and we'll check.
How long must my passport be valid?
At least six months beyond your arrival date is the safe rule, with a blank page for stamps.
On the trip
Is China safe?
Yes. Violent crime against visitors is rare. Your guide and driver are with you on sightseeing days, and our 24/7 desk is a message away. Safety guide.
Will Google and WhatsApp work?
Not on Chinese Wi-Fi or SIM cards. A travel eSIM bought at home keeps them working. Internet guide.
Can you handle dietary needs?
Yes: vegetarian, vegan, halal, gluten-free and allergies. Your guide explains your needs to every restaurant.
Do you visit shops or factories?
Never, unless you ask. We take no commission from shops.
Should I tip?
Tipping is optional. If you'd like to, we give suggested amounts for guides and drivers before you travel.
Changes and cancellations
What if I need to cancel?
Cancel 60 days or more before departure for a full refund of your deposit. A sliding scale applies after that. See our booking terms.
Do I need travel insurance?
Yes. Insurance covering medical treatment and repatriation is a condition of booking, and we recommend cancellation cover too.
